Hotels

Our group began a 10 year phase of investment in hotels, beginning in 1996. The significant tax incentivisation attracted investment in the sector. The policy resulted in increasing hotel stock in Ireland and the raising of standards to world class. Along with partners we created circa 7k hotel rooms and circa 3k jobs. Personally I had the opportunity to deliver a long-held belief in key management taking shareholding in the businesses.

Our operations were run under the Choice Hotels brand and the Prem Hotel brand. Under the Choice Hotel franchise we developed and operated Clarion Hotels, Comfort Inns and Quality Inns.

Ultimately the DALATA group acquired the Choice Hotel assets. The Prem Group was restructured under new funders. Both businesses continue successfully.

Carton House Resort our most iconic project was operated by the Clarion brand.

Tulfarris Golf Resort was operated by the Prem Group. We were also co-investors in the Phoenicia Hotel Malta, the Prajelato Ski Resort,Turin and the Sawgrass Golf Resort in Florida.
