Belfield Office Park sits on the outskirts of UCD

The 365,000 sq ft Belfield Office Park, with 950 underground car-parking spaces opened in 1998.

I remember a moment so well during this project. My wife Maureen and I went out to play golf and just as we were about to start the course we started talking to a man who was also about the tea off. Maureen seized the opportunity to step off the course and so left us talking as we played the course together. Tunred out he was a developer himself, over from the US. As I told him about the work in progress at Belfiled, he asked why I was using land to build a carpark when I could dig down and provide an underground carpark. To my undertanding this had not yet been done in Ireland. I'm not sure the team were overly pleased when I returned to change the plans but it was a job worth doing and we achieved what is now the home to Betfair.

 

I often ask the question, was that a chance meeting or was that meant to be!?
